Grievance Redressal
Grievance Redressal Mechanism
As suggested by University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Regulations for Redressal of Grievances of Students, 2023 (notification date: April 11, 2023), the University has established an “Students Grievance Redressal Cell”, to provide a mechanism for redressal of students’ grievances.
The University is committed to providing a fair and transparent environment for all its students, faculty, and staff. We believe in fostering a culture of open communication and strive to address any concerns or grievances promptly and effectively.
Our Commitment:
- Fairness: All grievances will be treated with impartiality and objectivity.
- Confidentiality: The identity of the complainant will be protected, and information shared will be kept confidential to the extent possible.
- Transparency: The process for redressal will be clear and easily accessible.
- Timeliness: Efforts will be made to resolve grievances within a reasonable timeframe.
Who can lodge a grievance?
- Students (current and former)
- Faculty Members
- Non-Teaching Staff
- Parents/Guardians of students
- Any other stakeholder with a legitimate concern related to the university’s functioning.
What constitutes a grievance?
A grievance can relate to any concern or dissatisfaction regarding:
- Academic matters (e.g., admissions, examinations, grading, course content, faculty conduct related to academics).
- Administrative matters (e.g., fees, scholarships, hostel facilities, infrastructure, student services, unfair treatment by staff).
- Discrimination or harassment of any kind.
- Misconduct or unethical behaviour by any member of the university community.
- Any other issue impacting the welfare or rights of an individual within the university system.
Grievance Redressal Process:
- Acknowledgement: Upon successful submission of a grievance (online, email, or physical), you will receive an acknowledgment within 2-3 working days, along with a unique Grievance ID for future reference.
- Assessment and Routing: The Grievance Redressal Cell will assess the nature of the complaint and route it to the appropriate authority/committee for investigation (e.g., Head of Department, Dean, Proctorial Board, Internal Complaints Committee, Examination Cell).
- Investigation: The designated authority/committee will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation. This may involve:
- Gathering information from all parties involved.
- Interviewing witnesses.
- Reviewing relevant documents and records.
- Resolution and Recommendation: Based on the investigation, the authority/committee will formulate a resolution or recommendation.
- Communication of Outcome: The outcome of the grievance, along with the reasons for the decision, will be communicated to the complainant within a stipulated timeframe, usually 15-30 working days from the date of acknowledgment. In complex cases, if the resolution takes longer, the complainant will be informed about the delay and the expected timeline.
- Appeal (if necessary): If the complainant is not satisfied with the resolution, an appeal can be made to the Appellate Authority within 7 working days of receiving the initial decision.
